“Decchi Yokan”
Decchi, which oldinarily indicates “apprentices” phonetically in Japanese, is written with a combination of three Kanjis to embed multiple connotations. The first being “Mother Nature”, the second pointing to circular energies such as “the Moon”, and the third encompassing, “Human Conscience”.
Since ancient times, the Japanese have believed that bamboo grows with the luner energy. We have used the bamboo sheaths which provide natural preservative, to denote the well-being of the mind and planet.
Our yokan has a refined taste of adzuki-bean as it is doughy and soft as a result of steaming without any artificial additives, one of the skills that have been inherited over generations.
It is a great honor that our clientele has included not just the local customers and tourists, but also aristocrat families such as the Kujo Family of Kyoto are among those who have come to favor Decchi Yokan since our founding in 1801.
It is with the highest honor that we serve you to enjoy Decchi Yokan which connects the human conscience with mother nature.
